For their first release of 2018, Buxton Records invites Sydney-sider Simon Mann back for his second release on the label. The ‘From Out Of Fog’ EP is an ode to Simon’s multi-faceted and long-standing involvement in electronic music. From the dark and shadowy, to the melancholy and the club-worthy, Simon takes the listener on an excursion in dub techno throughout this release.

It’s as if Subterrain Rain cloaks the listener in a blanket of eerie mist. The siren-esque ring, alongside off centre bursts of strings creates an unsettled atmosphere as the track swells and deflates. Acid inflections and electrical glitches crackle against a fluid, yet bouncy bassline in the industrial-inspired Firelight. With its distant chords and bubbling synths, Mist Fielding also has a heaviness that would warm the dancefloor nicely, while the melancholic strings and driving pace of Forest Call create a tension that reaches its blissful climax to conclude.
