Buxton mainstay Daniel Ray delivers a collection of melodic slow burners through his Compact EP, shining a little light on the beauty in remix in the process.

The title track carries Ray’s signature deep delving sound, gaining strength through steadily levelled percussion. Gentle keys trickling down scale against delicate pads gives form to the EPs second track, Three Steps Back.

Brisbane based duo Isaac James and Shannon L. Marshall present their first output together as The Deep Ends, with their remix of Compact. Staying true to the mood of the original, the boys bring out a hefty bassline and amp up the groove in their cut. Fellow Buxton affiliate Simon Mann brings a certain heaviness in his take on Compact, with an unexpected but much appreciated jousting of acid.
